19 Red Nose Day
It is said that it takes more effort to frown than to smile. Smiling doesn’t just help us, it helps others too, though we don’t have to go round all day wearing a silly grin. It may be that because of our own particular circumstances, or those of someone we meet, a smile is not appropriate – maybe an angry or sad expression would be more suitable. But if we can, let’s save energy and smile today – and maybe try to share that smile with someone else, to cheer them up
Lord, we can feel a whole range of emotions: a sunny day can cheer us, another day of Covid-related restrictions can pull us down. Help us to see the good things, to smile, to feel cheered up, and to try to help others to lift their mood too
